As many of you know (if you read my previous blog), I was supposed to be singing in Berlin as a member of Berlin Opera Academy 2017. My trip, however, turned out to be a complete disaster.
To cut a long story short - of which was a horrible day start to finish - all of my luggage went missing so I had no other option but to travel back home. I was majorly disappointed but I have put it behind me, dusted myself down and I am concentrating on my next steps.
The next few months is really for me to think about what is going to be the best way forward. I am continuing with my singing lessons in Manchester with my vocal teacher from the RNCM - Matthew Best. Together we are working on my next goal which is to prepare for Opera school. I had considered doing my Masters and consulted various professionals for advice. All the advice so far is pointing me towards missing out on Masters and preparing to audition for an Opera course. I have still yet to make a definite decision regarding doing a Masters but this is something my singing teacher and I will discuss when we meet up for the first time since the summer break.
In the meantime I am working full-time to pay for my travel, continued singing lessons; trips to and from auditions, consultations etc.,
I had a fantastic consultation recently at the Guildhall School of Music and was left with very positive and constructive advice. I have another consultation coming up in a few days at the Royal Academy of Music - and again this is just to build on the advice I have already been given.
It's been a long and tough summer and I am really looking forward to my regular vocal lessons. However, one really fantastic opportunity that presented was an email from Andy Knight. He asked me if I would be interested in doing an interview for the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. I said I would be delighted. Andy traveled to Carlisle and we had a fantastic chat. If you would like to hear the full interview follow this dropbox link - you may need to set up a drop box account to hear it. Thanks everyone for your continued interest in my career and your support - Andrew x
